How to Scale an Etsy Shop to $1.25 Million with Dylan Jahraus

Ever imagined that one small idea could snowball into a million-dollar business?

That’s exactly what happened to Dylan Jahraus, who joins me all the way from Las Vegas for this week’s episode of Small Business Growth Addicts to discuss how to scale an Etsy shop.

Dylan started out selling a single floral letter she’d made for her own wedding. Fast forward a few short years and she’s built a 7-figure Etsy shop, invested in real estate, and gone on to help thousands of product-based small-business owners do the same through her Ultimate Etsy Course.

In this chat, we dive into the realities of scaling, the systems that make it possible, and how to keep your momentum going when life (and motherhood) feels like a lot.

So grab a cuppa ☕ (and a biscuit, obviously) this one’s a masterclass in what’s possible when you combine consistency, systems, and a clear ideal client.

The Accidental Start That Changed Everything

Dylan wasn’t even an Etsy shopper before she became a seller. One photo, one listing, and two months later, a sale. Armed with her corporate e-commerce experience, she applied the same principles to Etsy, and within eight weeks was making over $10,000 a month.

It all came from one question:

“What if I treat this like a real business, not a side hustle?”

Spoiler: that mindset shift changed everything.

From Bride to Mum – Following the Ideal Client Journey

This part blew my mind.

Dylan didn’t just stop at weddings. She followed her ideal client through every life stage — from weddings to nurseries, baby showers, birthdays, and even teacher gifts.

By expanding her product range to meet the same customer’s needs over time, she grew customer lifetime value and built a loyal repeat-buyer base.

It’s genius marketing and proof that sometimes, your next big idea is right in front of you.

Systems = Freedom

Behind every successful small business is structure.

Dylan went from solo-maker to running a 49-person company by building repeatable systems:

  • SOPs for every task

  • RACI charts for clarity on who does what

  • Hiring the right people for the right seats

She even outsourced production and later sold her brand to a student proof that solid systems make a business sellable.

Balancing Ambition & Motherhood

Like so many of us, Dylan built her business while raising young kids.

She admits there are still tough mornings (we’ve all been there, quick-washing uniforms before school 😅).

Her non-negotiables now?

  • Sleep – protect it like your business depends on it (because it does).

  • Boundaries – soccer games are sacred, phones stay down.

  • Grace – you can’t do it all, and that’s okay.

The Money Myth

We had an honest chat about the milestone everyone chases, that first six-figure year.

For Dylan, it happened fast. But what she learned is gold:

“Money doesn’t make you happier. Accomplishing something meaningful does.”

It’s a refreshing reminder that freedom, flexibility, and fulfilment often matter more than the number on a spreadsheet.

Thinking About Starting on Etsy?

Here’s Dylan’s advice:

  1. Don’t jump in blind — learn the basics first.

  2. Take advantage of the new-shop boost Etsy gives you.

  3. Focus on SEO, photography, and pricing from day one.

  4. Stay consistent — even one hour a day adds up.

  5. Don’t wait 12 months for results. With the right strategy, you should see traction within 60 days.
