Do you love or loathe creating content for your business social media pages and website?
Regardless of the answer it's something we, as small business owners, need to do if we want to create brand awareness. It's highly likely that no matter who your ideal customer is they are scrolling on at least one social media platform if not more!
So, what do they want to see? Some things will differ depending on your type of business but I'm willing to bet these are constants for everyone:
1) YOU!: Yup, your clients and potential clients want to see you. It's true that people buy from people, especially when it comes to small business. You yourself will likely form a massive part of your branding, your value, your personality and your beliefs will no doubt be the foundations upon which your branding are built so let us see you! A wee selfie and a "Hello" on your social media page can go a long way. You could ask a friend or partner to take this for you or invest in a phone tripod, they generally cost around a tenner and pay for themselves as soon as you put it to use!
2) BEHIND THE SCENES: This one is so important, most people are nosy, they want to see your workspace! You might think it's a chaotic mess but your clients or potential clients will be fascinated. Show us that chaos!
3) YOUR PROCESS: Similar to behind the scenes people will love to see this! If you make clothes let me see you cutting the fabric, if you make candles show me that final pour! If you're a service based business like a yoga teacher for example, show me how you get set up for a class. This can be a simple snap or a reel, so easy to put together and could do wonders for your business.
4) PERSONAL POST: This kinda ties in with no 1 above, you. People want to see your face but they also want to know a little bit about you. Why do you do what you do, how did you arrive at this point in your business, any hobbies? Tell us! We want to know and the better we know you the more likely we are to buy from you.
5) YOUR OFFERING: Super important, let us see what you actually offer. If you're product based this is an easy one, just make sure you're getting clear, uncluttered pics of your products. If you're service based let us see before, during and afters or finished results or, how about a wee infographic with some details? Time to get acquainted with Canva!
These are all pics you can of course get yourself but, I know that's not something that everyone finds easy. There's are lots of us who just about collapse at the thought of a selfie 🤣 so if that's you then you can of course hire someone to help with ALL of this (Hi!) drop me a note, always happy to help even if it's just with some hints and tips.
I challenge you to try these over the coming weeks, I will too, let's see what difference it makes to our social media engagement - let me know!
