A Low Energy Plan to Stay Consistent on Social Media Struggling to show up on social media when your energy is low?

Kids are sick, you’re run down, your brain’s not braining… but your business still needs to show up?

If you’ve ever stared at your social apps thinking “I just can’t today” you are absolutely not alone. This is something I’m hearing from so many small business owners right now I feel it too!

Whether it’s sick kids (hello P1 germs) your own energy dips, your cycle, or just life being life… showing up consistently on social media can feel hard.

But…Consistency doesn’t have to mean creating brand new, high effort content every single time.

Let’s make this easier with social media content ideas for low energy days.

When you’re a small business owner, you wear all the hats and that usually includes your social media manager hat too.

So even on the days when you’re tired, overwhelmed, or just not feeling it… there’s still that pressure of:

👉 “I should be posting”

👉 “I need to stay visible”

👉 “I don’t want to lose momentum”

But instead of forcing yourself to create something from scratch…

We’re going to work smarter, not harder.

1. Repurpose your best-performing content

This is your go-to on low energy days.

Head into your insights (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, wherever you’re posting) and look at your top 3 posts from the last 30 days.

Then ask yourself, How can I reuse this?

For example:

  • A Reel → turn it into a carousel or text post

  • A carousel → turn it into a talking video

  • A text post → turn it into a quick Reel

You’re not starting from scratch. You’re building on what’s already worked.

That’s 3 posts sorted… with minimal effort.

2. Check your drafts (your hidden goldmine)

This one is so underrated.

If you’re anything like the small businesses I work with in my social media mentorship, you’ve probably:

  • Started posts and abandoned them

  • Overthought something and left it sitting

  • Had a good idea… then got interrupted

Your drafts are full of almost-ready content.

On a low energy day, go in and:

👉 Pick 1–3 drafts

👉 Polish them

👉 Hit post

Done.

3. Turn a real question into a post

This works so well right now.

Social media has shifted, people are craving real, honest, human content more than ever.

So instead of overthinking ideas, ask yourself:

👉 What has someone asked me recently?

It could be:

  • A client question

  • A customer query

  • Something you get asked all the time

Then turn it into a simple post:

“One of my clients asked me this recently…”

→ Share the question→ Share your answer. No overthinking! We're all about done over perfect here.

4. Share where you’re at right now

If you feel comfortable doing this… it can be incredibly powerful.

Because the truth is? Your ideal client is probably feeling the same way.

So you could share:

  • You’re having a low energy week

  • The kids are off sick

  • You’re feeling overwhelmed or tired

  • You’ve been “all in” lately and need a breather

This kind of content: ✔ Builds connection

✔ Feels relatable

✔ Performs really well right now

And it’s also one of the easiest posts to create.

5. Keep it light with a fun, easy post

Not everything needs to be deep or strategic.

On low energy days, try something light like:

👉 “If we went for a coffee together, here’s what you’d learn about me…”

Keep it simple, personal, and easy.

These posts often:

  • Get great engagement

  • Help people connect with you

  • Take very little effort

6. Talk it out (no overthinking required)

If you’ve got a tiny bit of energy…

👉 Open your camera

👉 Press record

👉 Start talking

No tripod. No perfect lighting. No script.

Just chat about:

  • A tip your ideal client needs

  • A question you get asked

  • Something you’ve learned recently

Then use Instagram’s Edits app to trim it down (super simple to use)

And if you’re really not feeling it… take a break

This is important. If something bigger is going on in your life…or you genuinely don’t have the energy…

👉 Take the break

Your business will not fall apart. Your audience will still be there.

In fact, stepping back can often help you come back:

✔ Clearer

✔ More creative

✔ More motivated
