Update Your Instagram Bio for Spring: A Simple Refresh That Can Attract New Followers

Spring is finally starting to appear here in Scotland.

As I record this episode of The Growth Addicts Podcast, the sky is blue, the sun is out, it changes everything, even for a Winter lover like me. After months of dark mornings and grey afternoons, that first hint of spring energy feels like a reset.

And just like we start spring cleaning our homes, it’s also the perfect time to refresh parts of our business marketing too. One of the quickest places to start?

Update Instagram bio.

In this episode, I’m talking about how a simple spring refresh of your Instagram bio can help you attract the right followers and turn them into customers.

If you’ve not updated your bio in months (or even years) this is your nudge.

Why Spring Is the Perfect Time to Refresh Your Instagram Profile

Spring naturally makes us want to tidy, organise and refresh things. We clean out cupboards. We reorganise rooms. We reset routines. Your social media profiles deserve the same attention.

Over time, small things change in your business:

  • Your offers evolve

  • Your ideal client becomes clearer

  • Your messaging improves

  • Your confidence grows

But often your Instagram bio stays frozen in time.

Updating your Instagram bio ensures your profile still reflects:

  • who you help

  • what you do

  • why someone should follow you

Your Instagram Bio Has One Main Job

A lot of small business owners think their bio should simply explain their business but there’s something far more powerful. Your bio should answer one simple question for the person landing on your profile:

“Why should I follow this account?”

Not just:

What do they sell?

But:

What will I gain from following them?

This is a small shift, but it can make a big difference in turning profile visitors into followers.

The First Line of Your Bio Matters Most

When someone lands on your Instagram profile, they decide within seconds whether to follow you and that decision is heavily influenced by the first line of your bio.

Instead of describing your business, try describing what you share on your Instagram profile.

For example:

Instead of saying:

“Virtual assistant for busy entrepreneurs”

You might say something like:

“Sharing tips to make small business admin easier”

Instead of:

“Wedding photographer based in Glasgow”

You could say:

“Fun, relaxed wedding inspo for couples in love”

See the difference?

It focuses on the value someone gets by following you.

What If You Don’t Share Tips or Education?

This is a question I received in my DMs recently.

Some business owners worry that doing this is going to turn into a whole new content genre they need to come up with but it doesn't, you're likely already doing it! And if you aren't..

Start.

Social media has changed.

People are more selective about who they follow now. Their feeds are busy. Their attention is limited.

If your account is purely promotional, it's much harder to attract new followers.

But when your page shares:

  • helpful insights

  • relatable content

  • useful information

  • behind-the-scenes moments

You become more than just another business page. You become someone worth following.

Don’t Overthink It

Refreshing your Instagram bio doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, it’s one of the quickest marketing wins you can do this week.
