How to Write the Perfect Instagram Post That Gets Clients to Take Action

Writer: Amanda HughesAmanda Hughes

You’re doing all the things, you're posting on Instagram on the daily, but is your content actually leading to sales, bookings, or enquiries? If not, you might be missing some key elements that turn a post from ‘just content’ into a client converting machine!

Here’s how to write the perfect Instagram post that gets your ideal clients to take action, let's go..

Step 1: Start with a Scroll-Stopping Hook

Whether it's a reel or a carousel, you need a text or visual hooks that grabs attention within the first 3 seconds to stop that scroll!

Fix It:

  • Use curiosity-based or problem-solving text hooks such as:

    • “I'm an xxx and people are always asking me xx”

    • Or a visual hook like these

  • Keep it short & punchy (no fluff!)

  • Put any text hook in a bright bold font to make it stand out

Step 2: Make It About Your Ideal Client

People engage with content that speaks directly to them

Fix It:

  • Make your content relatable, you want your ideal client to say "that's me!"

  • Address a pain point and position your offer as the fix

💡 Example: Instead of “I’m offering yoga classes,” say “Feeling stressed and burnt out? Here’s how my yoga classes can help you feel calmer, stronger, and more balanced.”

Step 3: Evoke Emotion

People need a reason to care about your post—so educate, inspire, or entertain them

Fix It:

  • Teach something valuable about your industry that no one talks about

  • Share a client journey

💡 Example: Instead of “Buy my nutrition plan,” say “This client was confused about what to eat for more energy. We came up with an achievable plan that helped my client go from sluggish to thriving—here’s how it can help you too”

Step 4: End with a Strong Call-to-Action (CTA)

People need clear direction in order to take action, what is the purpose of this post? Direct your viewer accordingly

Fix It:

  • Use CTAs that fit the post goal (engagement, follows, sales)

  • Keep it simple and direct:

    • “Send this to a friend who needs to see it”

    • “Comment ‘INFO’ if you want help with this”

    • “Click the link in my bio to grab yours!”

💡 Example: Instead of “Hope this helps,” say “Ready to level up? DM me ‘GROW’ and let’s chat!”
