Shop Small This Christmas: Discover Our 2026 Christmas Gift Guide

Looking for unique Christmas gift ideas?

Our first-ever Small Business Community Christmas Gift Guide is here, and it's packed with independent businesses, thoughtful presents and gifts you won't find on every high street.

There's something rather wonderful about buying a Christmas present from a small business, isn't there?

Knowing that somewhere, someone is carefully wrapping your order, popping a handwritten thank-you note into the parcel, or doing a little happy dance because another order has come through.

And I don't think we talk about that enough.

Because when we shop small, we're not just buying things. We're supporting someone's hard work, creativity, ambition and, quite often, the business they've been building around raising a family or navigating everything else life throws at them.

Which is exactly why I'm so excited to introduce you to The Small Business Community Christmas Gift Guide 2026!

A Christmas Gift Guide With Real Small Businesses Behind Every Page

This year, I've brought together 20 independent businesses from The Small Business Community to create our very first Christmas Gift Guide.

And when I say there's something for everyone, I really do mean it.

Inside you'll discover handmade jewellery, original artwork, personalised gifts, sweet treats, memorable experiences, wellbeing support and even thoughtful presents for the small business owner in your life.

The guide is organised into five categories:

  • Handmade and personalised Christmas gifts

  • Gifts for families and food lovers

  • Experiences

  • Wellbeing and self-care

  • Gifts for small business owners

It's an online magazine that you can flick through from the comfort of your sofa, preferably with a cuppa and a Christmas biscuit. No downloading required!

Every business featured is part of The Small Business Community, a place where independent business owners come together to learn, connect and grow.

And I'm incredibly proud to be showcasing what they do.

Why Shopping Small This Christmas Matters More Than You Might Think

It's easy to think that buying one Christmas present from a small business won't make much difference.

But those individual purchases add up.

According to the Department for Business and Trade's 2025 business population estimates, small businesses account for 99.18% of all UK private sector businesses.

That's 5.64 million small businesses. They also employ 13.1 million people, representing 47% of all private sector jobs.

So when we talk about supporting small businesses, we're talking about supporting a huge part of the UK economy, the people who work within it and the communities around them and shoppers really can make a difference.

On Small Business Saturday 2024, an estimated ÂŁ634 million was spent with small businesses, according to an American Express survey of 4,000 UK adults, reported by Startups Magazine. That's a lot of individual decisions to shop small.

This year's Small Business Saturday UK takes place on 5 December 2026, but there's absolutely no need to wait until then to start supporting independent businesses. In fact, getting ahead with your Christmas shopping could be one of the nicest things you do for a small business owner this year.

Unique Christmas Gift Ideas You Might Not Have Thought Of

One of my favourite things about putting this guide together has been seeing just how varied the businesses within our community are. You might immediately think of handmade products when someone mentions shopping small, and we have some absolutely gorgeous ones.

But there are so many other ways to give a thoughtful gift.

Handmade Gifts With a Personal Touch

If you're looking for something a little different, you'll find ethical handmade sterling silver jewellery from Tania Wallace Jewellery, colourful designs from jcudesigns and personalised leather bookmarks from Wild Origin.

There are also sustainable, customisable clothing options from All About the Words, handmade bath, body and home fragrance products from The Inner Hearth, children's clothing and accessories from HenryRai Handmade and a keepsake calendar from The Childcare Fairy.

For art lovers, there's original artwork, personalised pet portraits and unique jewellery from ByHelen Fine Art, alongside Nicola Lester Art's Two for Joy Mail Club.

And if you're completely stuck for ideas, VibeQuiz offers a fun, free personality-based quiz designed to help match people with thoughtful gifts from independent UK businesses.

Christmas Gifts for Food Lovers

Let's face it, sometimes the best Christmas presents are the edible ones!

Inside the guide you'll find festive grazing boxes and sweet treats from Snackasaurus Catering, alongside nostalgic sweet-filled gift suitcases from Sweet Heritage.

Perfect for the person who already has everything but will never say no to something delicious.

Give an Experience Instead of Another Thing

Not every Christmas present needs wrapping paper.

Sometimes the most thoughtful gift is an experience, a memory or a little time dedicated to yourself.

Our guide features newborn and family photography from Faye McRae Photography, personalised birth chart readings from The Inner Hearth and relaxing hypnosis experiences from Quinn Hypnosis.

They're lovely alternatives when you want to give someone something more personal than another item for the cupboard.

Gifts That Make Life a Little Easier

Christmas can be wonderful, but it can also be exhausting.

Which is why I love that our guide includes services focused on wellbeing, self-care and making life a little easier.

You'll find relaxation vouchers from Transformational Holistics, family wellbeing support from Everything Belongs Mindfulness and personalised gift sourcing, festive planning and Christmas experiences from The White Christmas Concierge. Sometimes the best present is a little less stress.

Christmas Gifts for Small Business Owners

And here's a category that's particularly close to my heart.

What do you buy someone who runs their own business?

Well, how about something that gives them back a little time, confidence or headspace?

Inside the guide you'll find my own Social Media Planner, digital bookkeeping support from Rapid Bookkeeping Solutions, virtual assistant services from Clockwork Virtual Assistant and website reviews from J Hamel Solutions.

There's also communication and confidence support from Dr Beth Dawson, alongside Lara Rongen's 20-minute Spark Session for anyone looking for fresh perspectives and a little clarity. These are the kinds of gifts that could continue making a difference long after the Christmas decorations have been packed away.

The Ripple Effect of Buying From a Small Business

There's another reason I wanted to create this guide.

When you spend money with a small business, that support doesn't necessarily stop with the person you've bought from.

It might help them pay another small business for their branding, photography, bookkeeping or website.

It might mean they can order more materials from an independent supplier.

It might help them invest in their business, support their family or simply feel a little more confident about what they're building.

That's the ripple effect of shopping small.

And it's something I've seen within The Small Business Community time and time again: independent business owners supporting, recommending and buying from one another. Of course, you don't have to buy everything from a small business this Christmas but perhaps you could swap just one of your usual purchases for something from an independent business instead.

Imagine the difference if we all did that.

Meet the Businesses Behind the Christmas Gifts

One of the things I love most about our Christmas Gift Guide is that it introduces you to the people behind the products and services. These aren't just anonymous listings on a shopping website.

They're talented, hardworking people who have spent time developing their skills, building their businesses and creating something they're proud of. The guide gives you a chance to discover them all in one place.

I'm Amanda Hughes, founder of The Small Business Community and host of The Growth Addicts Podcast, and creating opportunities for small business owners to be seen is a huge part of why I do what I do.

This guide is one more way of doing exactly that.

And I really hope it's the first of many.
